Choosing between a red or green dress or car is simple. The color is immediately visible, and you choose what you like. But how do you choose a "green" hotel? After all, the philosophy of the hotel's operations isn't visible at first glance. How many guests check the "Environment" section before arrival – or search for this information on the hotel’s website?
The topic of ecology and climate is vast. Meanwhile, it has rained a bit lately, and the birds eagerly rushed to the puddles to finally drink, so perhaps let’s start with water.
At Hotel Bulwar, we heat the utility water using heat pumps and solar installations. We use the heat of the Earth and the Sun, which allows us to consume less "traditional" energy and leave a smaller carbon footprint compared to similar establishments that use older technologies. And believe us, the difference is enormous.
All showers at Hotel Bulwar, including those in staff areas, are equipped with showerheads that limit water consumption without compromising user comfort. The planet also appreciates it when our guests turn off the tap whenever they don’t need water. While traveling and at home.
At Hotel Bulwar, we use eco-friendly cleaning products. In other words, the chemicals used for cleaning the hotel’s spaces are more environmentally friendly than traditional ones. For example, the chemicals used for washing our hotel linens break down within 48 hours. This means we don't overburden the environment. The water discharged from washing into the sewage system after two days is simply water, not wastewater. You can also use eco-friendly products in your homes – fortunately, they are widely available today.
We have a central water treatment station. We soften the water supplied to individual devices, thus extending their lifespan and also reducing the amount of water used.
In the hotel bathrooms, you’ll find cups that allow you to use less water when brushing your teeth. You might think: it’s just one or two liters. But when we multiply that by tens of thousands of our guests each year, we save a significant amount of water. And there are more hotels.
We believe that small steps can lead to big results. What international organizations do is important, but so is what we all do every day. We don’t wait for others, but act every day, consistently. And we invite you to join us in taking action!
