There are countless ways to go green – and believe us, whether it’s a hotel or a home, there’s always plenty of room for improvement.
Today, let’s talk about printing. It all started back in 2018. We asked whether it was possible to print on recycled paper. Samples came in, offers were discussed, designers and print shops had their doubts… but we made it happen. The first items printed on 100% recycled paper were our invoice holders, seasonal à la carte menus, and spa vouchers. And yes – we’re still printing them on recycled paper to this day. That same year, we also printed a beautiful calendar to celebrate Hotel Bulwar’s 10th anniversary. And our hotel bags, too.
Since then, we’ve expanded our eco-printing portfolio to include the SPA menu, key card envelopes, “do not disturb” door hangers, no-smoking notices, and more.
Every new print item since 2018 has been produced on 100% recycled paper – simply because it works.
We’ve also introduced this paper into our daily front desk operations. Guests often recognize our invoices from afar (for those who prefer paper over digital), because the paper is noticeably darker than what you’ll find in most places. And here’s another important point: we avoid printing whenever possible.
We only print what’s absolutely necessary. We always print double-sided. And of course, we carefully sort and recycle all used paper.
More recently, several new materials have also been printed on recycled paper – including our unique Wine List, followed by the Drinks Menu, and even our comprehensive Wedding Offer for couples planning their special day at Hotel Bulwar. We already have a few more ideas in the pipeline, but in our latest printed materials, we’ve also introduced QR codes.
This allows us to keep the printed formats symbolic and minimalist, while giving our Guests quick and easy access to detailed information online.
In the lobby area, you might still spot our old hotel brochures. They were printed a long, long time ago. And while one of the details inside is now outdated, the rest of the information remains relevant. So, in the spirit of “don’t waste – reuse,” feel free to take one as a little keepsake. It’s actually the very last printed material from our hotel made using non-recycled paper.
